Yea if you'd said "chair rail" instead of "dado rail" not only would your piece have been less funny but we wouldn't have enjoyed this absurd and entertaining conversation!
I’m still not sure this is what dado rails are used for in the UK. Not only do we have something that looks like a chair rail here, but it also serves no purpose beyond its poor aesthetic.
The canoe line was utterly perfect. I had to look up "dado rail" and realize in the States we call them "chair rails" and we have one in our dining room which will now always evoke you to me. And also YAY a serialization!? Great piece
It's where you place the dining room chairs when not in use and the rail protects the wallpaper from being marred by the chair. Often found only in the older homes, as ours is 98 years in age. But YOU are funny!!
Amazing, ten ecks amazing.
Thank you!

i based it strictly on this as i had to look it up and went no further than wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dado_rail
It appears to be a bit of a “May”
...although the purpose of the dado is mainly aesthetic, the dado rail may provide the wall with protection from furniture and other contact.
i love that you took the topic to da club!

Why the hell do you call them chair rails? Do you deposit chairs on them?

Huh. That makes sense. More than ‘dado’ anyway. But the word is funnier.
I will never understand the verbiage chasm between the pond.
What the ... ? I don’t know what the hell this is, but it was fun
I don’t know what it is yet either
